Lorna Vassallo is from Mġarr but lives in Msida.  She is the second generation of politicians in her family.  Her father Pio Vassallo ran for 8 general elections between 1953 and 1987: once with the Malta Workers’ Party (predecessor of Malta Labour Party led by PM Sir Paul Boffa), twice Independent and five times with Malta Labour Party.  He was an activitist, during the politico-religious crisis in the 60’s as well as the education crisis in the 80’s.  Lorna Vassallo is not married and her family today consists of her brother, her sister-in-law, and her two nephews who she adores.  Since Pio Vassallo was married twice, she also had a half-brother in Australia who was married to a Gozitan woman who still lives with her two adult children in Melbourne today.

Lorna Vassallo’s hobbies are historical reenactments, singing and theatre.  She is a very ardent traveller and her travels spanned the five continents including Latin America, North Africa, South Africa, Asia and Australia.

Sa minn età żgħira Lorna Vassallo kienet segretarja tal-kumitat lokali tal-Imġarr Malta fejn twieldet. Hija kkontestat elezzjonijiet tal-Kunsilli Lokali u interni tal-Partit Laburista kif ukoll l-elezzjonijiet generali tal-elfejn u tlieta, l-elfejn u tmienja u l-elfejn u tlettax fuq it-tnax-il distrett li jinkludi l-Mellieħa, Naxxar u San Pawl. Kien għal din ir-raġuni li l-Prim Ministru Joseph Muscat stidinha biex titfa’ n-nominabħala kandidata għall-Elezzjonijiet tal-Parlament Ewropew fl-elfejn u dsatax. The Partit Laburista Deputy Leader , Deputy PM and Minister for Health Hon. Chris Fearne, her long-time friend Parliamentary Secretary for Disabled People and Active Ageing Hon.
